Helen Kane sponsored a contest to locate local talent held by Paramount Publix and the Fleischer Studios. Jo Miller came in second place in one of the many contests organized by Paramount Pictures to select a voice for Betty Boop. As a result of Paramount's search for "Helen Kane" soundalikes, Helen Kane launched her "Helen Kane Impersonation Contest," which was open to all local females and judged by Helen Kane and the audience throughout the country. The winner was the girl who most closely resembled Helen and sang "Boop-Boop-a-Dooped."
